Resources for Professionals

Mayda – The Ashalim Center for Knowledge & Learning: Ashalim's professional education and training efforts are centralized at the Mayda Center, conveniently located in Kfar Saba at the Alumim Residential Facility.  Mayda serves as a reservoir and accessible resource for documenting and disseminating field knowledge on issues facing children and youth at risk, their families, and professionals. Mayda promotes inter-disciplinary approaches that combine aspects of health, education, and social welfare.

  • Activities: Mayda offers Israel's professional community a range of resources, supplementary courses, training programs, seminars and conferences. In December 2007, a regular bi-monthly newsletter - "MAYDA News" – was launched which describes the main activities available in Mayda. Several peer groups also engage in ongoing learning. • Publications: Ashalim makes its accumulated knowledge and experience available through its books and guides, kits and hands-on field materials.  Ashalim's publications are published primarily in Hebrew, with some in Arabic as well. • Conferences, Courses and Seminars: Ashalim organizes and co-sponsors events on successful program models and on topics related to children and youth at risk.  To view the events schedule (in Hebrew) click here.

Academic Curriculums: Ashalim collaborates with leading universities and teachers' colleges in Israel to develop unique teaching curriculums that prepare tomorrow's professionals to work with at-risk children, youth and their families. These include bachelors and masters degree programs and courses for teaching and educating students at risk, as well as a joint program for students of nutrition and social work.
